The Weekend Outlook

A mid-level "short wave" disturbance will produce increasing cloudiness across the area today and some scattered rain and snow showers this afternoon and evening. The precipitation will be light and disorganized. There will likely be less than a tenth of an inch of liquid that falls and it is possible that some towns will see little or no precipitation. It is possible that a dusting/coating of snow could accumulate across some of the hilly terrain by this evening. There may also be a couple, isolated slick spots as the temperature falls to 32 degrees and below this evening into early tonight, however for many places this may end up being a non-event. The weekend system look to be slowing down a bit, so Saturday will likely turn out to be a decent day to begin December with. We will see sunshine tomorrow, mixing with some clouds in the afternoon and highs in the low 40's to about 45. Clouds will thicken Saturday night, with rain developing. It will probably be cold enough for some freezing rain to fall across some of the northwest hills of CT and Berkshires in MA, at least for a while. This is also somewhat possible across the Worcester Hills in MA and maybe some of the northeast hills in CT. Lows will be in the 30's. The rain will taper off during Sunday and highs will reach the low 50's. Rainfall amounts look to be in the 1/2"-1" range at this time. The NAM model suggests amounts will be lower.
