SMS Optin
SMS Two-Factor Authentication
How Cox Weather Services uses SMS messaging in the Client Portal.
Registered Client Portal users may enable two-factor authentication (2FA) using a mobile phone number. When enabled, logging in sends a one-time SMS verification code to that number so only the account holder can complete sign-in.
Consent to receive these messages is collected directly from the account holder inside the portal, after they log in and choose to enable SMS-based 2FA, before any phone number is submitted. The exact consent language shown at that time is:
I consent to receive one-time SMS verification codes from Cox Weather Services to securely log in to the Client Portal. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
Message frequency: one-time codes only, sent when a login is attempted. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help.
See our Privacy Policy and SMS Terms for full details, including our commitment that mobile information and consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
